I did my volunteer service August 2014-2015 in Malawi.
I was part of the German government program "weltwärts". My organization was Kolping Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste. When people asked me what I was doing in Malawi, I used to answer:

"I am working at a Primary School."
- "Oh, are you a teacher?"
"No, I am trying to teach."

Sense organs

Context
SCIENCE/ Sense organs

Materials
Activity sheet with sense organs to cut out and label

LESSON

How many sense organs do we have?
Five.

What are our five sense organs?
Ears, eyes, skin, tongue and nose.

I distribute the activity sheet. I explain how we will proceed:
For each sense organ we need a double page in the exercise book

On the left side we will stick the picture of the sense organ, on the other side we will write the labelling numbers and name the parts of the sense organ.
We label together in the lesson.
Cutting out and sticking the pictures in the exercise books is homework.

I show them how to they can cover their notes, look at the pictures and try to memorize the labels. One by one, they can uncover the labels and check if they were right. If not, they should try again.
